Thank you for your interest in Christian Brothers Academy! The enclosed material will provide you with information regarding CBA. and the process by which you can have your son enrolled at CBA. for the 2006 2007 school year.
This is a time of great excitement and promise here at CBA. We are now located at our new school campus in Colonie. This new facility has proven to be the revitalization and energy that will lead our students into the new millennium. It will be here that the CBA. tradition of excellence will live on into the 21st century and the legacy of the Christian Brothers shall continue to thrive as it has since 1859.
How do I apply for admission?
To be admitted to CBA. you must complete steps 1 and 2:
1. Take our Entrance Exam:
Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 8:30 AM (Scholarship also)
These exams are for students who plan on entering grades 6 through 11 in September. Exams begin at 8:30 a.m. and last until approximately 11:30 a.m. You should arrive at approximately 8:10 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. There is a $10.00 fee to take the exam (paid on the morning of the exam) and prior registration is required. Please call the Admissions Office at (518) 452-9809 ext. 110 to register for the exam. You will receive a computerized printout of your son's scores once they are returned from the testing company (normally about six weeks from the date of the exam).
2. Forward to the Admissions Office the following material:
student application form
current report for the 2007 - 2008 school year
final report card from previous school year - June 2008
copy of the most recent standardized test scores
student recommendation forms (2)
This information will be reviewed and a determination of acceptance will be made based on this information. If preliminary acceptance is granted, you will be forwarded the necessary papers to register your son. Once these papers have been submitted to the Admissions Office you are considered registered for the upcoming school year. This acceptance is contingent on the receipt and approval of an "official" June 2007 transcript to verify that all subjects have been passed. No application will be processed until all materials have been submitted.
***No acceptance is final until an "official" June 2008 transcript is received and passing grades in all subjects for the current school year have been verified.
*** Limited openings are anticipated in most grades so your timeliness in fulfilling all obligations regarding application materials is extremely important!

What if I'm not sure if CBA. is the right school for my son?
We encourage you to have your son come to spend a day at CBA. These visitation days are set up during the school year to give your son a view of a regular school day. Your son will participate in some classes during a normal school day. He'll observe CBA. in action, have lunch, and have a chance to experience life at CBA. These days run from 8:30 to 12:30p.m.
To arrange a visitation day, parents should first obtain permission from your son's present school. Students entering high school should then call Arthur Smith, Director of Admissions, at 452-9809 ext. 110 and students entering junior high school should call Marty McGraw, Assistant Principal for the Junior High, at 452 - 9809 ext. 106 to set up a visitation day.
On the day of the visit, students are asked to:
Arrive at the main office between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m.
Wear dress slacks, a shirt with collar, shoes, socks and preferably a tie and/or sweater. Jeans and/or sneakers are not allowed.
Arrange to be picked up at 12:30 p.m.
Lunch is provided with the compliments of the school.
If you have any questions regarding admission to CBA, please contact Arthur F. Smith '63, the Director of Admissions, at 518 452-9809 ext. 110.
