At the Ground Breaking Ceremony at Christian Brothers Academy on Wednesday, March 30th, Dr. James Schlegel made a surprise announcement of the addition of a 5th grade to the school. Dr. Schlegel stated, “For years, we have educated boys in grades 6 through 12 and our parents have urged us to open up to a wider range of students. This year, the interest has been overwhelming for a particular group of students. Responding to the call from our current and prospective parents, I am excited and proud to announce that we have decided to add a fifth grade for September 2016.”

The announcement came at a time when CBA is constructing a $1.5 million Arts and Science Wing on the school. The addition will be ready for the opening of school in September of 2016. This addition is part of Our Defining Moment, a $5.2 million campaign at the school. “This facility, the physical centerpiece of our capital campaign, creates a new state of the art music room, an engineering lab, and four additional classrooms. The expansion is the consequence of years of effort, and an acknowledgement that the people who are close to CBA truly believe in our faculty and the education the students receive on a daily basis.”

About Our Defining Moment

CBA has a strong foundation on which to grow the school’s future. The school, and its students, faculty, and staff are experiencing unprecedented success. Now is the time to invest further in the CBA experience. Space is at a premium as enrollment increases, a robust music program is in need of expansion, and additional classrooms are needed for increased programs under STEM. CBA hires the best faculty who are committed to providing an exceptional education for our students. Our investment into faculty is a priority as their continued professional training strengthens the CBA experience. Our Defining Moment, a major fund raising campaign, addresses seven priorities requiring $5.2 million in support from our community.
