Over 4,000 guests attended the Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) annual Craft Fair in 2011 making it the biggest since its inception. Over 140 vendors offered handmade creations making it one of the largest in the area, but what really makes this event unique is the tremendous participation from the school’s students.

Of the 400+ young men who attend CBA, ages 11-18, nearly all contribute time and energy to make this a huge event for the school’s Mothers Association. Students voluntarily prepare for weeks leading up to the event, by putting up signs around the area, laying out vendor spaces, setting up tables, and serving as moving men when the crafters bring in their wares. On the day of the event, the boys greet every guest at the door, act as runners for committee chair people, volunteer at all the school booths including the Mothers Association Bake Sale, serve food in the Crafters Cafe, and even carry packages to cars for weary shoppers whenever needed.

We make an announcement at school that we need help, and our young men answer overwhelmingly. It’s a family event here, where the mothers and fathers spend countless hours organizing the crafters, then cooking or baking and serving the day of the event. The boys appreciate the effort. They understand the funds raised by this event, go not only towards the school, but back into the community. Funds are earmarked for local charitable donations and scholarships for at-need students, and I believe that’s what makes it more important to them to succeed in beating last year’s record.”

Christian Brothers Academy is a college preparatory junior and senior high school for boys founded in 1859 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, and is committed to meeting the needs of the individual, to develop his full potential and to guide him toward a role as a contributing member of society. Our student’s interest in helping in any way we ask is indicative of their commitment to a Christian way of life and our school’s success.

Vendor/Crafter information:
Please be aware that once you are a current vendor in good standing, and you return your application by March 1, 2012, you will automatically be accepted for 2012. If the application is not received by that date you are not guaranteed a spot in the next years fair.

Once returning vendors are placed, we will then begin to process new applicants. Early application dates are a plus, but the particular craft a vendor creates and our need for variety is more important. Sorry, we are not accepting any more jewelry vendors in the foreseeable future.
