Volunteers Needed for CBA Phonathon

Sunday, February 10th & Monday, February 11th

CBA postponed part of the annual Phonathon until after the New Year in the wake of the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, but we are now ready to continue our largest fundraising effort.

The annual Phonathon will take place Sunday, February 10th and Monday February 11th at CBA in the Alumni Library from 5:00pm-8:00pm.  We need volunteers for both nights to help make calls and stuff envelopes.  Please volunteer to ensure our annual Phonathon is a huge success.

To sign up to volunteer contact Marty McGraw ’77, mcgrawm@cbaalbany.org, 452-9809 ext 110,  or Kyle Schoen, schoen@cbaalbany.org, 452-9809 ext 120.

With your help we look forward to a successful completion of the Phonathon.

Safety Protocols

After the tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut, the thoughts and prayers of the Christian Brothers Academy family are with the Sandy Hook Elementary School community.  As parents and educators, the events are deeply personal and remind us that our first priority is the safety of our children and those entrusted to our care.

Over the weekend, we initiated the process of examining our safety systems and protocols.  At CBA, we balance tight security measures with maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors.  We work closely and regularly with the Colonie Police Department. We practice drills in building and campus evacuation, fire and natural disaster response, lockdown, and shelter-in-place.  The tragedy at Sandy Hook serves as a reminder that we must continuously discuss and evaluate our protocols and investigate any possible enhancements.

We remind visitors of the importance of following our safety protocols listed below:

  • The outside doors of the school building are locked at all times school is in session with video camera surveillance and sign-in protocols for any person without student or employee status.
  • All visitors must enter the building through the front doors near the main office.   After ringing the doorbell, visitors will be buzzed in by main office personnel who are able to see and speak with the individual via closed circuit camera and intercom.
  • Visitors must proceed directly to the main office and are required to sign-in and wear nametags throughout the length of their stay.

The tragic and senseless events in Connecticut necessitate diligence in our efforts to ensure the safety of our children, students and staff.  If you have any questions or concerns about the information above, please do not hesitate to contact me at 452-9809, ext. 102.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this most difficult time.

Sincerely,

James Schlegel
