Christian Brothers Academy inducted it’s 2011 Athletic Hall of Fame honorees on June 25th 2011. The ceremony was hosted by ESPN Broadcaster Joe Tessitore ’89.
Father Peter Young ’49 was a fierce competitor excelling in baseball, basketball and football. Father Young spent three years on the varsity baseball team and as a sophomore the CBA team won the International Division Title.
Dave Doemel ’71 was a member of two Diocesan championship football and basketball teams, and a three-year varsity baseball player. He went on to play baseball at the University of Notre Dame. Dave returned to CBA in 1975 where he coached football, basketball and baseball at various times throughout his career. Dave is currently the varsity basketball coach at CBA and led the team to its first ever New York State Title in 2009-2010.
Paul Reinisch ’87 excelled in baseball and was named the NYS Tournament MVP in 1986 when CBA won the New York State Championship. He was a member of the 1985, 86 and 87 Section II Championship Teams. Reinisch was a member of Team USA and played in the Junior Olympic tournament in Sydney, Australia in 1987. In 1987 he was also named a Wilson Athletics High School All-American. He went on to play baseball at Wake Forest University and was a 1990 draft pick for the Detroit Tigers.
Michael Regan ’96 played lacrosse, football and wrestling for CBA and went on to play lacrosse at Butler University where he was team captain in 1999 and 2000. In 2001 Mike was the 10th overall draft pick by the National Lacrosse League Albany Attack and made the National Lacrosse League All Rookie team that year. Among his many achievements, in 2003 Mike was named Inside Lacrosse Best US Player, a 2002 and 2004 Team USA member, and was awarded the Team USA MVP in 2004.
