Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in Christian Brothers Academy! The enclosed material will provide you with information regarding CBA and the process by which you can have your son enrolled in CBA for the upcoming school year.

This is an exciting time here at CBA. We recently celebrated our 150th anniversary of Catholic education by the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Founded in 1859, we are now in our seventh location at our school campus in Albany. It is here that the CBA history and tradition will live on and the legacy of the Christian Brothers shall continue as it has for one hundred and fifty years.

How do I apply for admission?

To be considered for admission to CBA, you must complete steps 1 and 2:

1. Contact Brian O’Connell in the Admissions Office at (518) 452-9809 ext. 105.

2. Forward to the Admissions Office the following material:
a. student application form *
b. current report card from this school year
c. final report card from last year
d. copy of the most recent standardized test scores
e. student recommendation forms (2) *
* Items a and e can be downloaded from our website at www.cbaalbany.org at the bottom of the Admissions page.

This information will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee and a determination of acceptance will be made based on this information. No application will be processed until all materials have been submitted. If preliminary acceptance is granted, you will be forwarded the necessary papers to register your son. Once these registration papers are submitted to the Admissions Office with the registration fee, you are considered registered for the upcoming school year. No acceptance is final until an “official” current year transcript is received and passing grades in all subjects for the current school year have been verified.

How can I be sure if CBA is the right school for my son?

We encourage you to have your son come to spend a day at CBA. These visitation days are set up during the school year to give your son a view of a regular school day. Your son will participate in some classes during a normal school day. He will observe CBA in action, have lunch, and have a chance to experience life at CBA. These days run from 8:15a.m. to 12:30p.m.

To arrange a visitation day, parents should first obtain permission from your son’s present school. Parents should then call the Admissions Office at 452-9809 ext. 105 to set up a visitation day.

On the day of the visit, students are asked to:

  • Arrive at the main office between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m.
  • Wear dress slacks, a shirt with collar, shoes and socks, and preferably a tie and/or sweater. Jeans and/or sneakers are not allowed.
  • Arrange to be picked up between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m.

Lunch is provided with the compliments of the school. If you have any questions regarding admission to C.B.A., please contact Brian O’Connell, Director of Admissions, at 518 452-9809 ext. 105.
